meet the contractor

Owner & CEO, Benjamin Hernandez, has been a Certified General Contractor since 2007 and has over 20 years of experience in the construction industry. Benjamin was introduced to the construction industry at an early age, as his father and grandfather both owned and operated construction companies. Benjamin spent his summers during school working to help his father in the family business, from demolishing structures, to being taught the intricacies of the construction code and the necessity for quality work.

After college, Benjamin obtained 5 years of executive experience with firms such as Martin K. Eby Construction Co., Hubbard Construction, Granite Construction and Lane Construction. During those early years, he worked on various projects, which notably include constructing the Conroy Overpass and other roadwork from State Road 417, State Road 429, the widening of State Road 408, and the I-95 extension by Daytona. He also received numerous awards and honors for his innovative techniques to increase production and leadership. Benjamin then decided to follow in his father’s footsteps by taking over the day-to-day operations of his father’s company, JMD Developers, Inc., in 2004.

There, he was the project manager of various construction and development projects ranging from shell construction of his favorite restaurant Pollo Tropical; to construction and development of multi-million dollar spec homes; and finally to large residential construction and roofing endeavors. After gaining valuable skills and building on his portfolio of project experience, Benjamin decided to launch his own construction company in July of 2011, appropriately naming his company JMD Global Developers, LLC to pay respect to his family’s over 75 years of construction lineage.

After going strong executing various rehab, roofing and private contract construction projects, Benjamin transitioned his company into a more traditional general contracting firm offering design and build and construction management, as the construction market starts to rebound. Benjamin is an active member of the Associated General Contractors of America and is a Minority Certified General Contractor.
